What Brings You Joy?
Every day distractions tend to rule our priority list but…
Where does God fit into your life + where does He rank on that list?
Does God bring you joy? Have you taken time to declutter your everyday life so that you can truly make room for Him?
Before 2020 I found myself continually distracted by the hustle and chaos of my daily schedule. I wore my busyness as a badge of honor when it really was a sign of disconnect and living in my own will. When I look back my heart aches at all the missed opportunities to connect with my Heavenly Father because my mind and my heart were so clouded by more ‘important’ tasks in my day.
In order to meet our Father we need to rid ourselves of the unhealthy distractions that pull us further from our relationship with Him. Our Father wants to have an intimate relationship with us however, we have to surrender our heart and our mind completely over to His will.
“Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, He got up, went out, and made His way to a deserted place. And He was praying there.” Mark 1:35

I found that I needed to make Him a priority in my life and that started by first creating a dedicated space for my devotion and quiet prayer time to meet with Him daily. Not just occasionally, but each and everyday! In the beginning it required conscious effort and consistency before I finally felt like I was experiencing quality time with the Lord.
When I realized that I only went to the Lord when I remembered to, I had to swallow my ego and pride to be able to admit to myself and to Him that I needed to welcome Him into my life all the time, in all areas.
I had to prioritize and be diligent with my time to read, to pray and now in memorizing scripture. Allowing His grace to penetrate and soak into my heart has become a craving in my life that only He can fulfill.
I encourage you to evaluate your time, your energy and your thoughts to remove the busyness that keep you from fully allowing your Heavenly Father to enter your heart and consume your life.
