17 Bible Verses for the Lonely Girl

I think I can confidently say that most of us have known the deep, heart-wrenching feeling of loneliness. Personally, I’ve always been someone who was comfortable with being alone. As a big introvert, I valued my alone time to recharge, and even as a child, I had no problems playing alone or entertaining myself. But there is a significant difference between wanting to be alone and feeling like you have no one to turn to in your time of need.

I’ve felt that type of loneliness a few times throughout my life, from losing all of my friends after high school to family drama and disagreements, a season of singleness before meeting my husband, and times when I just felt like I didn’t fit in with my peers at school or work. Life can be filled with times of loneliness, especially as a Christian. Finding genuine and like-minded connections with others can be challenging and discouraging in today’s world.

So what are we to do when we are struggling with loneliness? For me, I always turned to God. He truly was the only one who never left my side, misunderstood, or rejected me. He understood the depths of my heart and feelings without me even having to explain them, and He was always working in the background to make a way out of the despair I was experiencing. His comfort, presence, and peace have always been a soothing remedy for my worldly woes.

Going to God’s Word and leaning into His truth and love is the only foolproof and lasting way to find true relief from our sorrows, so here are a few Scriptures that I pray will bring peace to your spirit and consolation in your current lonely season.

The Lord will rescue me from every evil deed and bring me safely into his heavenly kingdom. To him be the glory forever and ever. Amen.”

If I take the wings of the morning and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, even there your hand shall lead me, and your right hand shall hold me.”
